cara-plana-van-et!

how bout some great meddle, geezers? you decide if this one's for the kids. that kid up front def is. that girl in the back i'm not so sure about. dj steef takes one of sabbath's muuuch mellower tracks & turns it into a space (disco) jam. sweeet.

oh & while we're on space ("i just got off of yrs" "myspace?" "no ours") peep the rad poster for this rad lo-fi/sci-fi mindfuck starring the always rad sam rockwell & directed by duncan "zowie bowie" jones:

(no, not the movie)

(what's the story) clarence worley?

just learning of this dude, but why the heck did he choose to include his ronnie milsap cover instead of this gem on the buffetlibre 2 comp?!? great cover, unfortunate name. seriously, if you were some jokey blog-house remixer it might fit, but serious music w/a jokey name helps none of us in the clarity department. he also records as alvy singer. shocker!

(what's the story) morning glory [oasis cover] - parker lewis (mediafire)
[BUY]

his originals are quite nice as well & his whole catalog can be downloaded free & legally through his label mad for it which is run by remixer-du-jour joakim. yeah that one. & look at that cover pic! he musta thought it was white (hair) boy day. shit, maybe it is.

he truly cannot lose.

put yr hands on yr waistline

back again (you're welcome) with an oldie but goodie; just like me. kids did you know that mr. chaff is over 275 years old? remember vaudeville? or the black plague?? yeah, that was me. oh & that internet too. this blog is actually 116 years old, but in a form that carbon based humans other than me had the capacity to read, only about two-ish. way back when, i was tweeting where all the freshest meat was, only none of those hunters & gatherers had twitter yet. morons. that's why i'm fat as fuck & they're dead. (that's me on the right over there!)

anyway, i tend to enjoy LOTP more in remixed form & this is the best example of that. while their set at coachella was timed to perfection (late aft nu-rave, anyone?) & a superior show overall, their recent SXSW set on the directv stage (wtf???) was rife with tech problems & less than stellar, it did contain the best ending to a show that i've EVER seen. groups of grim reapers dragged each band member offstage kicking & screaming, one at a time as their feedback droned. it may sound gay now, but it was awesome at the time. my friend agreed with me too & he's smart. like, really smart.

thanks for having me back, see you in another 17 or so years!

2 girls, 1 heart on

yet another radikal WMS sponsored party. seriously, this shit will be wild.
with burlesque, lady tigra hosting (en costumbre) & going til 4 am (which is like 9 am LA time) & will feature mostly weirdo/italo/beardo disco from the 70s & beyond. this one is thrown w/the illustrious euro-dragon ("breathin fire on pussies everywhere"), plus some of the usual suspects:

(1.) ye olde CRZA, who we posted 2 FULL original deepfutureafrolove mixes from last year:
but who now has a new equation. learn:
CRZA-ZA (downshift) + OO + bs (upshift) = ?
look around you, if your reformulated DJ name = crOObs, then you are correct

(2.) back once again is the renegade chaffer, hostman maxer, purple psilocybin maxer

here is my new equation. learn:

gombo lechaff - gombo lechaff + periodic elements Bb & Dz = ?

Bobby Dazzler

tee shirts sold separately & moustaches sold even more separately-er

now put that in yr copybooks

plus sets from jason of the dubby future pigeon, late nt duo andy clockwise & spyder

now here is a teazer pleazer til then:

hi beam baby - A.D.A.M. (A Disco Ate My) Baby (mediafire, sorry)

blue dream lover (fromage disco mix) - elke (mediafire)
we'll rock it - thony ritz (mediafire)

morning before we send our kids off to school.
white parents never have to do that."
-chris rock

yeah, boyeeeee! WE'RE BACK my multi-racial brothers & sisters! this blog has just become THAT much more culturally relevant...or has it? either way, its nice to not have to be as embarassed to be an american.

yeah, it's been awhile, but in celebration of the end of all of this ridiculous election yammering & the result actually going the right way for once, i have pulled myself out of semi-retirement. also, this jam here is just too good not to post.. goddamn, i love me some good hiphop & this is certainly that. dumont mixes are usually of the squealchier, tech-ier variety, but this sweet mix maintains his bassier aspects while slowin it down for the head nods (nod heads?). good to be back. bigup yrself barry o!

run it (duke dumont mix) - EPMD (direct link)
then go & BUY some EPMD

bonus:
when i hear music (duke dumont refix) - debbie deb (direct link)
BUY debbie deb, she could use the money

something just touched me.....`

hello again space campers. gombo was in a funk for awhile; and not one of the james brown variety, unfortuantely, but he appears to be out now.

this helped:

what mid-wilshire used to be...

ok, so the KILLS party is officially only a week away. in honor of this momentous milestone, let the giveaways begin!

the first 5 people that can answer the following convoluted question will win a prize pack including a KILLS poster, compact mirror for the ladies (or the more vain gay men) & KILLS badges, all nestled lovingly inside of a KILLS tote bag. so consider the gauntlet thrown. down or wherever you like.

the search for cherry red - the kills (mp3) [BUY]

the above song is a cover that the KILLS recorded as a b-side a few years back . the almost-next-big-thing original artist (band #1) is now better known as morphing into another more popular group (band #2) after grabbing a few members from another band (#3). WHAT IS THAT BAND (#3)?

send answers (& RSVPs) to: killsafterparty at whiteminstrelshow dot com

"i did not look for LSD. LSD found me. it wanted to tell me something."
-albert hoffman

so....albert hoffman died recently. i'm sure you've already seen it covered countless times on your local TV news station because it's such an important event, but let me explain anyway. hoffman is credited as being the inventor of lysergic acid diethylamide aka LSD-25 or in layman's terms "that little piece of paper that made me lose my pebbles".

he first synthesized the drug in '38, but thought it was a dud til he brought it back out in '43 & accidentally absorbed some shit thru his fingertips, ended up eating his entire microscope & realized that he may be onto something. he documented it all in LSD: my problem child & championed the drug as "medicine for the soul".

for a full, factual & almost unreal history of the drug, peep this book. this should be oliver stone's next movie instead of this shit.

some wildly varied, yet highly pertinent music:

& here's "acid mother" from the stones insanely
indulgent, never-released cocksucker blues tour doc.

take a "trip" over to erowid or the LSD symposium to discuss & blog about yr own psychedelic experiences or read about those of others or better yet, post them up right here in the comments section. (please!!!)

u.r.a. beaver

so, its offish. we can finally reveal that the WMS will be hosting the official KILLS afterparty for their stopover in the greater los angeles area on 5/21. they are playing the el rey. so we are playing the el rey, right after them. so, in effect, they are opening up for us. suckers! no, but seriously folks, we are extremely happy to be part of the tour supporting the very excellent MIDNIGHT BOOM album. nyc's CHILD BALLADS are opening up & they're pretty nice too.

full details to follow, but we will be posting KILLS remixes, covers & rarities til the show & giving away lots of KILLS crap, tix to the show, etcetera, etcetera. there's still a few tix left, so buy em direct from the rey here & F ticketmaster in the A. so stay tuned! & at least leave a lil landing strip.

watch the above video to see the band drink wine, discuss beat poetry & explain the origin of the album title. then grab this heavy remix from the new album if you like bass deep enough to shift a kidney.

straight, no beard.

"I am not straight, but this mix makes me want to be."

...says this guy, who may or may not be john travolta. after he ate james gandolfini. & absorbed all his DNA. & came out. it is also what CRZA had to say recently when asked by an interviewer (me) to describe his new mix before it was to be put up on a popular website (mine).

mixed live on vinyl on his $2600 black ivory plated mixer (why's it gotta be black? -ed.), it's another heroic feat of beardy disco science. you may recall his coerced conception/superstar DJ lineage, which - one imagines - enables him to perform said feats. one person that heard it, even called it "totally awesome!" (not me, i dont talk like that anymore). it's deep in the you know where.

16 April 2008

excerpted from the 'Date Raping Kurt Loder' diaries

I have not posted in a long time. I'd like to use the excuse that I've been so consumed with work and crazy shit that I haven't had the time to contribute recently. Unfortunately, that's not the case. I was in bed for two weeks straight. One disgustingly rainy Saturday, I was at Trader Joe's buying chicken broth & biodegradable John Wayne Gacy pomegranate all purpose cleaning soda, and I bumped into my old chum from the dorms Kurt 'I'll park where I wanna park' Loder. We embraced & said things like 'It's been a while' and 'How are you?' Turns out Kurt isn't that good. He's more-or-less homeless, surviving off pawned memoribilia like Yo! MTV Raps gummi snacks and Debbie Gibson flavored 45 adapters.

I know, right!?

Even worse, he came down with the chicken pox. Of course, I offered to let him take an oatmeal bath at my place. I'm there like that for my friends. We eventually ended up sharing a dreary Winter afternoon together in a warm plasmic goo, trading songs [old & new]. Below are morsels of the conversation.
------------------------------------------------------------
Trailmix - Spring Thing

Loder: I originally heard this track on the soundtrack to Groove but could never track it down. I refound it after hearing that fucking rad remix of 'You Make Lovin' Fun' by Trailmix. It's still works for me even though that movie is cartoon bullshit.

Fleetwood Mac - You make loving fun [Trailmix]

Love Grenades - Young Lovers [Sam Sparro Edit]

Me: This track is by up-n-cummers Love Grenades in LA. They're keeping it super Gersh. Hey, are you toeing my thighs, Kurt? [we begin eskimo kissing with all of our organs]

Lindstrom + Prins Thomas - Mighty Girl

Me: I've been trying to figure out what this song is for a while, because I loved it, and, of course it's those Norwegian motherfuckers. [at this point he's bazooka pumping my proboscis, dipping down into the oatmeal ether coming up with a full mouth of chunky warmth, gleeking it between his teeth onto my unibrow]

Teki Latex - Invitation to Oo--wee

Kurt: Teki Latex is a fat, sweaty potato. But I still love him. Danse la poutine, sissies! [giggles]

OMC - How Bizarre

[at this point, all logic breaks down. the telenovela equivalent of 9-11 transpires in my bath tub. the clawed legs leave the ground. suddenly, we're floating like a bunch of little nemos through a psychedelic racist valhalla]

Risque - Starlight

[we're cruising through the eighth dimension, Loder having his way with me and the galaxy, for that matter. he explains string theory using only his pubes and no words. it's kind of like 2001: A Space Odyssey, the end part. but not really.]

Ssion - Clown

[as we float back down to my bathroom, our orgasms merely internalized, causing a meltdown of my gersh circuitry]

Me: [asleep]

Kurt: These songs won't change your life. They'll just make you less bored. Fag.

I asked him if he needed any cash. He said 'no.' I insisted and dropped two U.S. Grants in his flannel pocket. It was only later that I realized ----

Kurt Loder's a real fucker.

This is the song he forever stuck in my head:

Bruce Springsteen - I'm on Fire [Cousin Cole's Bad Desire Remix]
